Destruction Sisters
A city leveled with concrete
Buildings stand by stepping on hidden bones
For the invisible corpses turned into mountains
There are no hymn to send off
A starved mice holding its breath
And scavenging roadside trash
The planted vegetations struck by rain
becomes covered in blood withering away
Hustlers in the alleyways
Emperors on this planet
Seeking the frontier
People dying away like trash
You also died that way, and
Continued to be treated as if it never happened
Whose fault is it that we are insane?
Hey, why become insane!
Destruction Sisters
Just bring your soul with you
Everything that seeks to kill you
Let’s go destroy them all
Hey sister, someday the fire we set loose
will still be burning here till even now
Everything that seeks to kill you
Let’s go destroy them all
estruction Sisters
Just bring your soul with you
Everything that seeks to kill you
Let’s go destroy them all
It is explained that "sisterhood" is a concept of feminism that was born into history as it was meant to be and it was a term often used in the women's liberation movement of the 1960s and 70s. It represented the solidarity among women transcending class, race, and sexual orientation, aiming to change male-dominated society. However, in the society of 2023, I think its scope is even broader.
In the current society, it can be said that gender disparities have not been eradicated, and discrimination against sexual minorities is largely left unaddressed. One of the fundamental reasons for this is that In essence, this refers to the system that designates "able-bodied" "heterosexual males" as the most capable and representative individuals to be treated as the norm. The system operates in a way that one is only recognized as a "full-fledged adult" by working, marrying, having children, becoming the head of a household, and paying taxes. Women and sexual minorities continue to be left out of this system, enduring disparities in wages, marriage, and various institutions. Therefore, this system must be broken immediately. Furthermore, even among those who may outwardly appear to fit the mold of an "able-bodied" and "heterosexual male," many individuals possess unique experiences, backgrounds, and circumstances that defy the confines of this system's framework. Dismantling patriarchal structures should lead to liberating them from the constraints of traditional notions of "masculinity”. What does "able-bodied" even mean, in the first place? Shouldn't "disability" refer to the very barriers set by society for individuals to navigate, rather than being used as an expression implying someone's mental or physical shortcomings? Therefore, in the society of 2023, I want to believe that the concept of sisterhood should encompass a broader scope than just solidarity among women extending to all individuals who are impacted by the mechanism of society, allowing each person to claim it as their own.
I also always think that there might be individuals who feel that the term "sister" doesn't resonate with them as their place. It might be time to search for a new word. But in the present moment, if I were able to address my teenage self in the year 2023, I also feel that I wouldn't have any other word than "sister" to use.
To all individuals who have been trampled upon, oppressed, disregarded, and killed by the mechanisms of this world, to you, I call out "sister" with prayers. Let's destroy the very structures themselves. And for the first time, you should be able to become your true self.
I Refuse
I refuse
I refuse
You say that I don't understand the truth
The gaze that crucifies me
The smell of wet asphalt, I hate it
Becomes enveloped in lukewarmness, everything
I can’t just live vaguely
Really, because just a tad bit, I wasn’t a fool
I refuse
I refuse
I refuse I refuse I will
Though no one really knows the truth
The value that is affixed on me
Stumbling in the muddy life, always
It will dry up completely, someday
I don't expect to be rewarded
Really, because just a tad bit, I wasn’t a fool
Why, how come!
I refuse
I refuse I refuse I will
Piercing through providence, dragging through the void, the world
Destroy, create, destroy, destroy
When I was talking with a friend about the image of heroines from the shonen manga’s (Japanese teen comic books), we started talking about “BLEACH” which was serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump. My friend said to me, "Isn't it great that the character Inoue Orihime’s chanting (something like a spell that summons a skill) is ‘I reject (I refuse)’ !?” Orihime Inoue is a timid and quiet heroine, but at the same time has a strong core and mischievous side as well. She cherishes her friends and family, popular in her class, good-looking, and is a heroine that is most common in a shonen manga.
Although the images of heroes, heroines, and protagonists in the shonen manga are changing with the times, there’s actually not much change in the common idea that is vaguely recollected by being called a heroine. That is to be gentle, strong, upright, support the hero(the male protagonist), “like-a-woman” (such a shitty word!), and to be beautiful in terms of social standards. It’s a concept that is directly connected to the "femininity" that is desired in this society and can be clearly seen in Orihime Inoue’s character.
That is why, when I read this book, I find a deep meaning in her chanting, "I reject (I refuse)". Even if it's not what the author intended, it feels like the line is chanted by breaking through all the "femininity" pasted on the outer layer. And as it is, it makes me feel that it leads to my own cry that breaks through my outer layer skin that is pasted with "femininity".
Surviving is Resistance
I’m not a queen not a muse not a mother but just me
I’m not a queen not a muse not a mother but just me
Continuously peeling off the name
I become myself
When flying through the clear night
All signals become gyves
The traces left in the sky
Someone says it's magic
The refused body
Has no place to return to
All of the blood shed
Blurred and diluted in the morning glow
Surviving is resistance
I’m not a queen not a muse not a mother but just me
Continuing to have my life chipped away
How far can I remain as myself?
I've been insane for a long time now.
Will my heart someday become empty?
The scream that breaks the womb
Someone says it's beautiful
Wounds are made Invisible
Without even a time to heal
All of the blood shed
Melted in the morning glow, made to be as if it never happened
Surviving is resistance
I’m not a queen not a muse not a mother but just me
The friend with whom I had a conversation that inspired me to write "I Refuse" is a person named Rin Takashima, an anarcha-feminist and a writer. On her social media, Rin raises the slogan "Surviving is Resistance" and states “I perceive myself as embodying the concept of 'Surviving is Resistance,' and believes that the very act of surviving with the will to resist is a revolutionary action. I don't have concrete grounds to believe in revolution; I begin my narrative from the point of believing in revolution”. Feeling as if you're unable to do anything more, immobilized, lying there with tears streaming down, it's in such bodies and spirits that Rin Takashima strongly affirms the potential for revolution. Her first solo publication is titled "Futon no naka kara hoki seyo” (English direct translation: Rise up from within the futon).
I've never been able to help but wonder, how many times have I been crushed by my own powerlessness and even perceived the emotion of being "crushed" as narcissistic? How much easier would it be to simply surrender to resignation and find solace? However, on the other hand, I strongly want to believe that someday it will change, someday this place will become where everyone can live as themselves. Right now, my act of surviving as myself is a resistance that leads to that "someday." I strongly want to live while holding onto that belief. That is my very prayer itself.
Flee from the Sanctuary
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight

Tonight, tonight

Pray in a hidden place
Come to think of it, I was taught
Lights were shining into the chapel
Hid to avoid judgment
Below-the-knee skirt, designated coat, curfew
I won’t break it so don’t touch me
Chose a place where no one will find
And carved many scars
Everyone, just die
Everything, just disappear
Stabbed by the feelings swallowed
You knew it
What dad wished for,
Being a good child, you can't go anywhere
Awful
Flee from the sanctuary
Tonight, tonight
What God unexpectedly left in mischief
Comparing strayed sheep to something
Arrogant and awful
Don't make me hide my prayers
Don't teach me what should not be
Why the stars are burning in this night
So that no one judges you
The imperfect body, the mind, everything
Don’t touch it by pretending to understand
Choosing a place where no one will find
Carved many scars
Flee from the sanctuary
Tonight, tonight
Everyone, just die
Everything, just disappear
I wanted to remain not to think that way
I knew it
What mom wished for,
Being a good child, will only must die
Flee from the sanctuary
Tonight, tonight
Waiting, waiting,
I’m still waiting here
Believing you’ll come
Waiting no matter how long
I attended a private all-girls school that combined both junior high and high school levels, which was one hour and a half commute from my home. The wind ensemble club practice ended at 6:00 PM. My curfew was 8:00 PM, part-time jobs were prohibited by school rules, and dinner was always taken with the family. I was able to study to some extent and was excelled at providing the expected answers. That was also the case in interpersonal relationships. I always tried to live in a way that wouldn't upset my mother and avoided doing things she didn't want. That was my daily life, and during that time, I didn't have anything I wanted to do nor anything I didn't want to do. I didn't have a reason to live or a reason to die. I think what existed in my life was nothingness itself. It was a void so deep, a pitch-black abyss without any recognition of its emptiness.
The school I attended was a Christian school, so every day after the second period ended at around 10 AM, there was a 30 minute worship session. In the chapel, in the classroom, and when reciting the Lord's prayer, there were times when I would suddenly wonder. “What am I actually praying for?” In Christian doctrine, the Father God never forsakes humanity. Just as a shepherd doesn't abandon a lost sheep. The Bible repeatedly proclaims this as love. "Even when you feel abandoned, God is by your side." "Even in times of trial, it is God's will." ———Is that really true?
Philosopher Foucault described Western-style state power as "the power of the shepherd and the priest," explaining it as "a power of care for the flock, ensuring that the sheep are not suffering, watching over them, of course search for the straying sheep, and the power to arrange for the wounded sheep". This foundation is naturally rooted in the dynamics of domination and governance that have been used within Christianity for control and rule. In ancient Rome, the enactment of laws applicable to specific individuals was prohibited, but what we have here can be described as a technique that is exactly the opposite. Foucault states “The practice of pastoral power targets individuals. Similar to how doctors assess the condition and nature of a patient's illness to adjust prescriptions and treatments, pastors tailor their approach to what is most suitable for each individual. The sheeps have no will or freedom; they are constrained to follow these prescriptions without any choice.”
While this may appear to be a seemingly "good thing," it can also be phrased in the following way: It is a system that can preserve the structure of power and grant absolute discretion to those in power. Just as in Christianity, the will of the Heavenly Father has always been deemed an absolute "good." The sheep are always led and their actions are permitted only to the extent of occasionally "straying."
Furthermore, the system of obtaining redemption through confession of sins also creates a power dynamic between the "confessor" and the "confessed" (naturally, the latter holds power in terms of holding secrets). The Gospel of Matthew in the Bible includes a passage where Jesus says, "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." But is the system where salvation is achieved through judgment in private by a specific authority, away from the public eye, not an excessively arrogant manifestation of power?
The magnetic field of power that exists within this religion can generally be observed to persist in institutions such as the "family" system and the "school" environment. Jesus Christ, overflowing with love and without malice, takes the form of parents and teachers, is present all around, creating diverse types of sanctuaries and sacred spaces. Being among the protected sheep in such places, however, I cannot help but say that for me it still felt like nothingness itself.
During that time, I was desperately trying to erase the "inappropriate feelings for someone who should be well-behaved," such as "I want to die" or "I want to kill," and I was struggling to understand why I would have such thoughts. I managed to keep going by ignoring those emotions and hurting myself, even though I didn't fully comprehend why I felt that way. In the middle of the night, secretly in my room, I would cut the parts of my hair that couldn't be seen, or in the bathroom, I would bite my arms until they were covered in bruises from self-inflicted injuries. I even tried cutting the inside of my thighs, and I couldn't stop doing these things. At the same time, I was desperately trying to hide these actions from my mother and father, making sure they never found out. Even though it was incredibly painful to try to be a good child, the thought of not being one was equally terrifying. I think I tried to maintain this balance by adhering to school rules and household norms, by meeting others' expectations, all the while making sure no one would intrude into my inner world.
I have never had a day where I didn't think about how much I would have been saved if someone had said to me, 'You can flee from there right now.'" Even if the outcome didn't change dramatically, at that moment, I wanted someone to tell me that strongly. Ever since I keenly realized that, I've been continuously writing songs for the me of that time. I pray that someday, a child like me, of that time, will touch them.
Inferno
In a city that's like garbage
A coastline filled with trash
Picking up favorite bottles
Stuffed it with the bones of the deceased
The chalky fence trampled
Getting you back right now
My terror is for that reason
It only burns for that reason
Embracing life
Embracing prayers
Remaining disconsolate
Blinking again
Drilling through the ceiling
Flames are pouring down
This is Inferno
Burning like a star
Even in a life that seems like trash
Unnoticed by the eyes of people who come and go
Continued to pick up the bones of the deceased
The thrown heart shatters
And immediately regains breath
My terror is for that reason
Burn only for that reason
Pouring in life
Pouring in prayers
Remaining disconsolate
Blinking again
Piercing through the bustle
Screams are pouring down
This is Inferno
Drilling through the ceiling
Flames are pouring down
This is Inferno
Being alone is lonely
Everyone, everyone will pass away
Even if I scream that I will kill
It’ll be drowned out by a popular song
Already, from long, very long time ago
It was hell, didn't you know?
The body that might have been an angel
Can't go back anymore
Pouring in life
Pouring in prayers
With nowhere to turn
charred
Piercing through the bustle
Screams are pouring down
This is Inferno
Drilling through the ceiling
Flames are pouring down
This is Inferno
Have you ever felt an overwhelming urge to shout in the streets or on the train? Grabbing the collars of those who walk by with faces that seem to say, 'None of this has anything to do with me,' and scream in their face, “There isn't a single thing that's not related with you!!!”. I always do as I walk through the crowds.
I'm truly infuriated by the structure of this world, built by exploitation and trampling to create the 'have-nots.' It really angers me to the core, including the fact that one can't survive without participating in it (escaping capitalism is truly difficult), and I'm infuriated by those who act as if they aren't complicit. To be honest, I'm desperately holding back these urges to destroy and harm, keeping them from being directed towards humans.
In the face of the injustices and absurdities of this world that have led to the deaths of many, the living have a responsibility to gather, document, and immortalize their voices as much as possible. History, even in the modern era and beyond, remains a subjective narrative of the survivors, often skewed by those in power. Recording the voices that have been trivialized and trampled upon is nothing less than an act of resistance, chipping away at the veneer of subjective history and the structures of power.
I pack all my murderous intent, the prayers of the dead, and set them ablaze. I carry the Molotov cocktail I've crafted, containing that flame, always concealed within my gut (of course, metaphorically). Not to hurl at humans, but to "cast a stone" at the system itself.
Whether this place is hell because I threw something at it, trying to break the ceiling above me, or if it has always been that way and has just become visible. I don't know. I don't know, but all I understand is that it's hell. The landscape of my mind is always dark, roaring, and burning.
No Pain, No Gain is Shit
No pain, no gain
Not that I've strayed from the world, but the world
Just peeled me away and made me unseeable
I do understand, yet I become unable to understand
Because existence is unbearably light
With a pain that echoes into the bone
I’m finally able to hold on
A body I can't choose, a mind I can't control
I always want to disappear, honestly deep down
“Just kill them all”, inside this womb,
Thrusting the scream that I can't release into my soul
Someone calls the flowing blood impure
They slander the scars as marks of sin
With a pain that echoes into the bone
At last, I can feel it
The life that is here, cries that I can't control
I always want to be at ease, that's the truth
No pain, no gain is Shit
日本のラッパーZORNの曲に「No Pain No Gain feat.
It's said there's no gain without pain, but is that really true? Isn't it that we simply don't want to believe there was no meaning to all the pain we had to endure for what we gained, or the difficulties we had to overcome? I often contemplate this. I myself tend to be skeptical and lean towards a somewhat nihilistic perspective, and it's partly due to an awareness that I can't seem to stop getting tattoos with rather self-harm undertones.
Nihilists also hold various positions, but I generally believe that "life has no meaning or value," "measuring meaning and value is inherently societal and disgusting" and "to live is simply to live, neither more nor less." Therefore, I'm constantly infuriated by the societal mechanisms of the current state where one is not allowed to simply "just live" despite being brought into this world without consent. Why is it necessary to earn money to survive? Why is it necessary to work to survive? Why aren't educational opportunities equally accessible to all humans? Why must our appearance be judged all the time? It's because the 'value' and 'meaning' established in this world are closely intertwined with 'capital' and 'power' as they currently stand. (It's just disgusting.)
There's a song called “No Pain No Gain feat. ANARCHY” by a Japanese rapper called ZORN where there are lines like "From juvenile hall to Top MC" and "But handicaps and adversity become weapons / the lowest places give birth to the highest" convey the overturning of positions that are born precisely from the bottom most layer. However, truly overturning that value requires dismantling the very environment and structures that give rise to those at the bottom most. Even if someone from the bottom most layer were to move to the top most, the hierarchy in place there would remain intact, with someone else merely taking up the vacant seat, as it were. (Their own stories might indeed inspire courage in others, and I don't believe that nothing of essence can come from what's told there though!) "No pain, no gain" is a phrase commonly used in the context of tattoo culture. In the abovementioned song, there's a line that goes, "Scars from what I've lived through and scribbles all over my body." When getting a tattoo, there's varying degrees of pain involved, so the expression "No pain, no gain" is often used to metaphorically compare the process leading up to the result (the completed tattoo) with the journey of life itself. However, as I mentioned earlier, I personally associate the pain of getting tattoos with a self-destructive undertone, so I have significant reservations about this aspect as well. I find myself unable to avoid hurting myself mostly when violent emotions have swelled beyond control, often attempting to prevent them from being directed at others. (Unfortunately, there are times when this proves impossible.). The meaning behind self-harming behavior varies from person to person, but for me, it's not about "wanting to die," it's about "not wanting to die." It's more along the lines of "If I don't do this, I'll end up dead even though I don't want to die," or "I can't go on without releasing this violent emotion through some form of violence." So, I can never view that pain positively, and expressions like "No pain, no gain" that seem to romanticize or glorify that pain are deeply unsettling to me.
Putting it into words like this makes me think again. If it were possible to not feel any kind of pain, it's undoubtedly better to be without it. In plain terms, it's shit.
